What is Zirconium Porcelain Veneer?

Zirconium porcelain veneer is a type of veneer that uses zirconium metal as its infrastructure and porcelain in its superstructure. Zirconium metal, being both white in color and having light permeability, allows us to obtain natural prosthetics that are closest to tooth tissue.

What is Monolithic Zirconium veneer?

Monolithic zirconium veneers are produced in a single piece by milling zirconium blocks. Because they are produced in one piece without layering, they are very hard. They are approximately 20 times more durable than standard zirconium porcelain veneers. Due to being the strongest and most durable veneers, they are often preferred in the posterior regions for patients who grind their teeth. Until the last few years, there was a disadvantage of monolithic zirconium veneers being a single color; however, with advancing technologies, we can now achieve colors that match tooth tissues by using multicolored blocks.

In which dental treatments is Zirconium treatment used?

Transparency, its workable and polishable structure make it suitable for the construction of all front/back restorations. Due to its tissue-friendly nature, it is one of the preferred restoration materials in dentistry.

How is the maintenance of Zirconium Veneers done?

There is no difference in the maintenance of zirconia veneers compared to natural teeth. They should be brushed twice a day, and the spaces between each tooth should be regularly cleaned with dental floss. Like any patient, those with zirconia veneers should not neglect routine dental check-ups every 6 months.

How long does it take to make Zirconium Veneer Teeth?

Thanks to advancing technology, dental impressions are taken digitally and instantly transmitted to the laboratory, where designs are created in a digital environment within minutes. This eliminates the time lost in converting the measurement to plaster and the courier delivery process. Previously, the duration of these processes, which took 4-5 days, has now been shortened from the morning measurement to the afternoon delivery.

Is there pain during the Zirconium Veneer process?

All teeth undergoing restoration are numbed with anesthesia before the procedure, and temporary restorations are delivered to the patient before the numbness fades, ensuring the preservation of their quality of life with temporary coverings until the arrival of the new teeth.

Does the color of Zirconium Veneers change over time?

The color of zirconia veneers does not cause discoloration over time. By adhering to daily oral hygiene rules and after regular dental check-ups every 6 months, they can remain in the mouth for extra long years.

Can Zirconium Veneer treatment be applied to those allergic to metal?

Allergies were a common issue in traditional metal-supported dental crowns. However, zirconium allergies, while varying from patient to patient, appear to be quite rare compared to metal-supported crowns. Therefore, zirconium crowns are a preferred option for individuals with allergies.

Is breakage or detachment of Zirconium veneers common in Zirconium teeth?

Designs made by accurately determining the patient's chewing movements and the relationship between the two jaws result in no expected fractures during routine use. Although the fracture resistance of zirconia is higher than that of teeth, severe trauma or a powerful impact due to an accident can lead to the breakage of a tooth.

The chemical properties of the adhesives, called "cement," used in the bonding of zirconia veneers are ideal for adhering to both the tooth and zirconia. Principles aimed at increasing adhesion are utilized during the abrasion of teeth, and the rare occurrence of veneers coming off the teeth.
